Colic is a condition that generally appears when a baby is 3 – 6 weeks old and usually resolves after they are 3 months old.
Symptoms of colic include:
- Excessive crying
- Drawing in arms and legs (like they are in pain)
- Turning bright red
- Needing more attending
- Being sensitive to the world around them

It’s also important for a breast feeding mother to evaluate her diet to ensure she is not including foods that irritate the baby. This generally includes: dairy, spicy food, alcohol, and tobacco.

- Rocking the baby
- Avoiding dairy or soy based formulas
- Giving smaller feedings
